I haven’t got a lot of energy left tonight.  But I wanted to post pictures for you.  I’m sure I’ll edit this post later.

Here’s how I feel.  Actually, all of us feel like this.

Obviously Giles had a toy OVERLOAD.  LOL  So cute with Lily’s Bobo and Rudolph.

AND I HELPED!

We ended up making 300 Peanut Butter Balls on Saturday, then on Sunday we made 244 Spice Cookies and put the gift baskets together.

While we baked and talked all the dogs, Lindsey’s girl Abbie and boy Mason, and my little monsters Giles and Lily, played and ran around the house, barking and clacking their nails across the hard wood floor.  They had such a good time!  They all like each other.  Cavaliers usually know their own kind and get along immediately.

P.S.  I didn’t take any pictures of the Peanut Butter Balls so I’ll give you a good idea.  They were the size of ping pong balls and taste like Heaven smothered in sugar.

Lily doesn’t notice the change in name since it sounds exactly the same.  Her full name was Lyndsfair Thanks a Million.  But on her second night home her new name just popped out of my mouth.  Lazy Bones Lily Jones!  She is SO mellow!  Giles is very playful, but still sleeps a lot.  Lily sleeps A LOT, but is playful now and then.  I’m hoping the two of them will strike a nice balance in each other.  Yin and Yang.  Either that or I’m hoping Giles won’t bug her too much and HE will mellow out.

Anyway, here’s our new girl!  Lily and Giles get along great!  I think we’re all smitten with each other.

Today we got up at 7:00 AM and made our way to our friend Lindsey’s house.  Lindsey has two very adorable Cavaliers named Abbie and Mason, I’ve posted pictures below.

We all piled in the car and headed out to Alexandria, VA for the Christmas Scottish Walk.  We met with the rest of the D.C. Area Cavalier Meet-up Group at the Monaco Hotel on King St.  The organizer of our group, Anne Gavin, reserved their courtyard for us and had arranged for coffee and refreshments.  We milled around there for a bit, chatted, and took plenty of photographs.  Then we headed out the front door, posed for a group shot, then headed down a few blocks to get in our assigned spot for the parade.

The dogs were on excitement overload.  They were oooed and aaahed over everywhere they went!  They’re such an amazing breed.  So friendly and laid back with smiling faces and wagging tales.  And they’re just plain adorable!

Everyone had a great time all bundled up, prancing down the parade route.  There was a good size crowd, cheering and singing, and some AWESOME Bagpipe music!!  I’ll say, that just made my day!

It’s taken me hours to transfer, upload, edit, and organize these pictures/movies/words, so enjoy.

I’d like to thank Anne and the rest of the Cavalier Group.  It was really nice to see all of you there and the dogs so happy.  Sally, Corduroy, Margaret, Bobby, Penny, Nancy, Lucy, Riley and his mommy, Marcie and her Riley, Marty, Buzz, Cooper, Anne, Robbi, Nubi, Calvin, everyone!  Mr. Giles and I thank you!

WE LOVE YOU, MR. GILES!  CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR 1ST BIRTHDAY!

Yeah.  Sam is pretty rude.  They need to respect me. A “lively” dog should not be “restricted” to a home with a fenced in yard.  It should be offered exercise , which again, we are willing to provide.

Cesar Milan, if you come across this blog, I hope that you might be able to address this issue via your show.

I’m so mad right now.  It’s no wonder so many dogs end up being euthanized.  It’s a damn shame!

Don’t you think it says something that my husband and I want to walk up and down 2 flights of stairs 4 or 8 times a day to take our dog out instead of just letting a dog out the back door once in a while to run around or do it’s business?  We find it beyond unfair that we should be passed over because we don’t have a yard.  We have lots of room for dogs to play and plenty of time and energy to exercise them properly outside the home.  We want to RESCUE a dog instead of purchasing one from a breeder, but yours and other rescue groups have been nothing but difficult.  Not one rescue has an issue with our application, but they’ve all got a problem with our lack of a fenced in yard.  I’m sorry that you’re the one to receive an ear-full from me, but we want Miley.  I’m also sorry to tell you that Miley won’t find a better home than ours.

This goes out to all rescue organizations.  YOU ARE WRONG.  I don’t know how these groups manage to place these poor dogs in homes AT ALL.  What a crock.

Miley, I’m sorry that you can’t be a part of our family due to small mindedness.  I do hope the very best for you.

While we think they made a big mistake, we’re glad that she has a new family.

So, here’s to buying a pup instead of rescuing one.  I don’t know whey the rescue organizations have to give us such a hard time.  It really stinks.  And if our only shortcoming is not having a yard, then hell with these people.  No wonder so many dogs are euthanized or never rescued.  These people are so picky.

I really want to use some strong language right now, you know, vent and curse and say how much I hate this and that, but whatever.  We’ll just fork over the dough instead.

I’ll post pictures of our new puppy when we get her. 

I am kind of stuck though since my back has been out of sorts.  Nine injections of concentrated liquid Ibuproferen then another six injections with the previous mentioned medicine plus cortisone has me pretty sore and more than a little cranky.

I haven’t walked any dogs except Giles in a couple of weeks.  But hopes are high for a bounce back.  I really want to get back out there, or rather, get my back back out there.  I just need to see a few hundred more doctors and get the right combination of care.  Then I’ll walk circles around those pups!

Adam and I have been trying to get into the dog adoption circle, but man is it hard!  We know exactly what we’re looking for and we’re fantastic pet owners (opinion-yes, fact-yes), but we keep getting over looked or passed on because we don’t have a private fenced in yard.  Not yet anyway.  We’re saving for a house with a big old yard for the dogs to play in, but money doesn’t grow on trees and the housing market is a disaster!

We went to meet a dog named Miley on Saturday the 22nd.  Miley is an 8 mo. old possible Sheltie/Mini Aussie Shepherd mix, weighs apprx. 25 lbs. and is sweet as can be.  She and Mr. Giles got along great!  Miley’s foster mom was very nice and very informative.  I felt that we had a great interview, us asking all the right questions and her answering at length.  Here’s hoping that we get our girl.

Of course our decision is not based on looks, but my goodness she’s so cute!  When her and Giles were sitting side by side at the Petco, behaving and looking up at me, my heart just melted.  I think she’s a perfect fit!

Our hopes are high, but if Miley goes to another home I’m not going to be too upset.  I know that the adoption agencies have the animal’s best interest at heart.
